A fine-rib knit dress that fits like it was made to a pattern rather than a size chart. Crew neckline, three-quarter sleeves, and a narrow rib running the full length of the body so the dress follows your shape without needing seams to do it. It stops below the knee.

Knee boots and a long coat for winter; loafers and a trench in autumn. A wide belt breaks up the column if you want a waist. Because the knit is fine and fitted, seamless underwear makes a visible difference.

Size guide — US inches

Garment measurements taken flat and unstretched, converted to inches from the supplier's centimetre chart. Not body measurements — the rib knit stretches several inches past these figures.

Sizing runs small. Cut to an Asian size standard, roughly one to two sizes under US sizing. For a smooth fit rather than a poured-on one, take the next size up. Allow about 1 inch of variance from hand measurement.

Length: 36.2–37.4 inches shoulder to hem — just below the knee at around 5'5", and at the knee if you are taller.

Fabric & care

• Ribbed knit. The supplier lists the main fabric composition as cotton
• Machine wash cold on gentle, turned inside out, with like colors
• Reshape and dry flat — hanging a wet knit will stretch the length out
• Do not tumble dry, do not bleach. Cool iron or steam if needed
