Fleur Strapless Ruched Maxi Dress — High Slit Prom, Bridesmaid & Formal Evening Gown

A strapless column gown with a slit that goes all the way up. The bodice is ruched in tight diagonal gathers from the neckline to the hip, so it grips and smooths rather than sitting flat. The skirt splits at the front of the thigh and a long panel of fabric cascades down the opposite side into a small train.

Why it works

• Ruched all the way down. Diagonal gathering through the bodice and hip is what gives this dress its shape — it does the work of a corset without the boning.
• Straight strapless neckline. Cut straight across, with grip and stretch through the body so it stays put.
• Hip-high slit. Genuinely high. This is a statement gown, not a conservative one.

Size guide — US inches

Garment measurements taken flat and unstretched, converted to inches. These are not body measurements. The fabric has significant stretch, which is why the flat bust figure looks small — it is designed to be worn stretched.

XXS, XS and 2XL follow the same grading, roughly 2 inches per step. Size up if you are between sizes — a strapless bodice needs to grip, but an over-stretched one slides down. Allow about 1 inch of variance from hand measurement.

Length: 48–50 inches from the top of the bodice to the hem, plus the side drape which sits longer. Under about 5'6" it will pool on the floor. Plan on heels or a hem.

• Polyester stretch knit with a smooth matte face
• Hand wash cold, or machine wash cold on gentle in a mesh bag
• Hang to dry — do not tumble dry, do not bleach
• Steam on a hanger rather than ironing; heat flattens the ruching
